Children's Contact Service
A Children’s Contact Service offers supervised contact and changeover services for children whose parents have separated. Relationships Australia NSW Children’s Contact Services (CCS) are located in Blacktown, Newcastle, Penrith, and Gosford/Wyong. The Children’s Contact Service links with other services such as counselling, parenting programs, and anger management programs for adults and group programs and other support services for children.
Our Children’s Contact Service (CCS) provides a place which is emotionally and physically safe for children. We help children to have a voice and support parents to re-build their relationship with their children.
Parents and significant others, such as grandparents, with whom the children do not live, have the opportunity to spend time together that might otherwise be denied or where there is conflict, safety issues, court orders or other restraints.
Where possible, the CCS supports adults to move to self-managed contact with their children.
Our Children’s Contact Services staff are professionally trained, friendly and child focussed. They are experienced in working with children and families. The staff at the centres have knowledge and understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people. They can support relationship building and structure age appropriate activities for children who are spending time with the visiting parent/carer.
No referral is required. Simply telephone us and we will provide information about our CCS.
The CCS operates mainly on weekends for family visits which are of two hours duration, subject to space at the centre. On occasion mid-week visits can be arranged.
As the CCS is independent from the Family Court and the Federal Magistrates' Court we are not able to enforce court orders. However, we work with parents to help them meet these orders or agreements to ensure that the interests of the children come first.
Waiting lists vary for each location according to the current level of demand and your availability. Costs vary from centre to centre depending on the type of service accessed. Costs will be discussed with you prior to your first visit.
